Eucharistic Processions on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

God blessed us with a beautiful evening on Thursday, June 8 for our Eucharistic Procession from Notre Dame Parish in Clarendon Hills to St. Isaac Jogues Parish in Hinsdale. Bishop Hicks celebrated mass with 1200 participants from area parishes and led the Eucharistic Procession through the streets with throngs of families following in prayer.

Pope Francis told us on June 6, 2021, that “The procession with the Blessed Sacrament…reminds us that we are called to go out and bring Jesus to others.  To go out with enthusiasm, bringing Christ to those we meet in our daily lives.” Through these reverent and beautiful expressions of our faith, and a belief that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist, we show others that our relationship with Jesus is present in every aspect of our lives.

It is Jesus’ own words that invites us to participate in our three-year National Eucharistic Revival, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world….For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.”  John 6: 51-55

As a Diocese we rejoice in the many Eucharistic processions that took place this year on June 8 and 11 and we look forward to the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ on June 2, 2024, when many parishes will again celebrate Eucharistic processions.
