Lifelong Lay Formation

Adult Formation

Adult Formation

It’s through the Office of Lifelong Lay Formation’s programs, pilgrimages and events, adults encounter Jesus Christ and receive the support they need to get through the many stages and seasons of adulthood. Our faith formation programs provide adults with opportunity to deepen their faith and encourage them to evangelize and share the Gospel with others.

Led by Father Burke Masters, Be Formed is a 90-day discipleship experience for men and women that includes weekly videos, small groups, prayer, fellowship and nights of reflection. Through Be Formed, individuals are given the opportunity to pray and listen to the spiritual, pastoral, human and intellectual commitments the Lord is calling them to focus on.

World Youth Day 2027

World Youth Day (WYD) is a worldwide encounter with the Pope celebrated every three years in a different country.

WYD is open to all young people who want to take part in a festive encounter centered on Jesus Christ together with their peers. This event is an opportunity to personally experience the universality of the Catholic Church, and to share with the whole world the hope of many young people who are committing their lives to Christ and His Church. World Youth Day is a unique way to deepen your faith and grow closer to Christ, through prayer and the sacraments, together with hundreds of thousands of other young people who share your interests and ambitions.

World Youth Day 2027 will be in Seoul, South Korea.

The Cursillo Movement is a movement of the Catholic Church. The name Cursillo is Spanish, meaning short course, and is often associated with a 3-day weekend—which is only one aspect of the Cursillo Movement.

The first Men’s Cursillo weekend was held in the Joliet Diocese at St. Isaac Jogue’s parish in Hinsdale in August 1963. The first Women’s weekend occurred the following July at the St. Dennis Rectory in Lockport.

The Joliet Cursillo has brought more than 6,300 men and women closer to the Lord through more than 240 Cursillo weekends, currently held at the Carmelite Spiritual Center in Darien.
