The Department of Catechesis & Evangelization in the Diocese of Joliet is offering a 9-week summer internship in 2025 for four adults ages 21 and up. The purpose is to support youth formation programming across the diocese, while helping the interns learn more about diocesan and parish structures to better discern where God may be calling them in the life of the church.

The Vocations Program Coordinator provides in person professional support services to the Diocesan Office of Vocations and its Director. The Vocations Program Coordinator is responsible for communicating the importance of discerning and responding to the call to vocation to priesthood or religious life through the various social media, in collaboration with the Diocesan Office of Communications. The Vocations Program Coordinator will support the mission, philosophy, objectives and policies of the Roman Catholic Church and the Diocese of Joliet.

As a vital member of the Pastoral Staff at St. Mary of Vernon, the Director of Lifelong Faith Formation is dedicated to ensuring that every parishioner encounters Jesus Christ through dynamic educational experiences, prayer, and sacraments.

Holy Spirit Parish seeks a Communications Coordinator for our welcome desk. This position will be proficient in communicating in person and on the phone, creating and distributing bulletins, e-blasts, e-mails, and other technology. This is a position of interruptions and multi-tasking. It will provide administrative support to Father John Sponder and the staff.

Holy Spirit Catholic Church, an “Amazing Parish,” has an opening for a part-time Liturgy Coordinator. The Liturgy Coordinator is responsible for collaborating with Clergy, the Parish Leadership Team, staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers to plan and execute parish liturgies and celebrations. The Liturgy Coordinator develops and directs liturgical ministers to provide leadership on Sundays and other special liturgies that will draw parishioners “to that full, conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations called for by the very nature of the liturgy” at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. This position will report directly to the Pastor and to the Business Manager for HR related issues.

The Christian Outreach Coordinator is a part-time, hourly position with flexible hours depending on activities. Essential functions include working with Bereavement, Community Outreach/Homebound, Daybreak, Food Pantry and various Drives.

Director of Middle School Faith Formation and OCIA in harmony with the Religious Education Director for grades K-5, is responsible for building, maintaining, and administering the office of faith formation, its goals, vision, curriculum, communications. Additional responsibilities include the faith formation of the students from grade 6, (the study of the Old Testament), grade 7 (the study of the New Testament), and grade 8 (the study and preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.)  In addition to these efforts, the director is responsible for the design, implementation, and coordination of the OCIA program in alignment with the USCCB standards. Likewise, the director is also responsible for oversight of the youth minister in the role of Youth Minister Coordinator. These efforts should be focused upon the youth from both the schools and parish community, uniting all youth across the parish through a dynamic Confirmation program that is followed by continued opportunities for spiritual and communal growth in grades 9-12.

Minister to teens in Grades 8-12 through opportunities for faith enrichment at Immaculate Conception. Accompany all teens at Immaculate Conception into a personal relationship with Jesus that deepens their Catholic Faith and forms them as disciples.

The Director of Religious Education will direct the religious education program. Good communication and interpersonal skills are important, as well as the ability to work collaboratively. Candidates must have a zeal for the mission of the Church to evangelize and have a vision for encouraging participation in the life of the Church. The DRE will supervise a team of Volunteer Catechists.

The Director of Finance is responsible for managing and directing all financial aspects of the parish and school including but not limited to financial reporting and analysis, accounting, payroll, accounts payable, budgeting, internal controls, insurance (working with Catholic Mutual), human resources, and legal matters (working with either the Diocesan in House Attorney or external attorney when assigned). The Director of Finance is responsible for managing the finances of the parish and school in accordance with the accounting and reporting policies of the Diocese of Joliet, generally accepted accounting principles and when applicable, state, and federal laws and related reporting.
